Affiliate Marketing - How a Beginner Can Get Started With Commission Junction Today

Before I found Commission Junction (one of the leading affiliate companies around today), I was trying to find affiliate products to sell by going to individual company's websites. Boy, was a I relieved when I found Commission Junction. They had hundreds and hundreds of products I could choose from. Want to get started in affiliate marketing today? Here's how you can do it with Commission Junction, and it is absolutely free!

1. Sign up as a publisher

Before you can start selling products, you need to sign up as a publisher. Thankfully, signing up as a publisher is very simple. Just go to cj.com, go to the Publishers tab, and choose Application. There will be some questions you have to answer regarding your website and personal contact information. You will need to provide either your tax ID or social security number for tax purposes. But it only takes about 3 minutes to get signed up as a publisher.

2. Choose which products to sell

Once you sign up as a publisher, you can then choose which products you want to sell. Of course, you want to choose products that are related to your website. Commission Junction's products are divided by categories (i.e. Seasonal, Shopping, Books, Beauty, etc), so it is very easy to find products to sell. One thing I like about Commission Junction is their EPC (earnings per hundred clicks). Commission Junction shows the average earnings per one hundred clicks for each product. This is a great way to see which products sell the best. All things being equal, the higher the EPC, the better.

3. Place products on your website

Commission Junction has made this really simple. When you decide which products you want to sell, your website will have to be approved to sell that product - this can happen automatically or may take a few days. It just depends on the company whose products you have applied for. But once you are approved, you just click on the link for that product. This will take you to the ads and text links that have already been created for each product. All you have to do is copy the code that is supplied, place it on our website, and you have ready-to-go advertising on your website. Now you are ready to make money!
