Becoming an Affiliate Marketer is a Tough Road

I've been affiliate marketing for about a year now. I haven't made enough money to support a family so I had to give up my kids for adoption, it was tough but I didn't want to let them down. It's an open adoption so I get to see them every now and then. Little Harley is so cute, whenever I go to see her she starts crying and asks if she can come with me 'cause the other parents are mean to her, I just laugh and say, "No baby, you're staying here, I'll bring you some candy next weekend." That always puts a smile on her little bruised up face. I always wonder where the bruises come from but I'm just not that inquisitive so I really don't know.

I don't like that I had to give up my kids but I am not giving up on this whole Internet thing, I am going to be successful and when I am I am going to adopt kids from China and the Philippines and Indonesia, maybe Russia too, they are Asians too ya know. Having all those kids around will make me completely forget about Harley and the other kid and I'll be able to move on with life. What a blessing this Internet marketing is going to turn out to be.

Okay, let's get down to it. What is Affiliate Marketing? Simple, you affiliate with other companies, promote their products, they pay you a commission. Hmmm, sounds like I'm more just a salesman than anything. Yep, you are, only your customer base is everyone that's on the Internet, and you don't have to actually pitch anybody. The idea of "selling" a product has such a stigma because it's uncomfortable for most people to ask somebody to buy something from you. It's puts you on a different level. That's why most multi-level marketers lose all their friends. Hey look, Joe's calling, I like Joe.

"Hey Joe, what's up?"

thirty minutes later

"Wow, yeah Joe, this sounds like a good idea, I just need to find 6 people to buy some soap from me and I'll be a millionaire...well (awkward pause) let me just talk to the wife and we'll think about it."

Two days later

"Joe's calling again, block it"

and Joe lost his friends.

Selling your friends and family is a pain in the butt and nobody wants to do it.

So why is affiliate marketing any different you may ask.

Well, simple...the Internet. The Internet has given me access to millions of people that aren't my friends or family. People I never talk to, meet, exchange phone numbers with, exchange a meal with, nothing. They never even know I exist. They click a link I posted and they go directly to the other company's website that I am affiliated with and THEY do all the selling for me with their fancy pages and great offers. I just referred somebody that lives in like Tulsa, Oklahoma, who I never met, or is it whom I never met? They bought the product and the company paid me 75%....Not bad. With affiliate marketing my commissions are usually like $30 to $40 per sale. Get 5 or 6 people a day and you're making a steady little side income. The best part is, once they buy that product or service, they belong to the company as a customer, so guess who deals with customer service.....that's right, not me.

Anyway, there are millions of people out there willing to teach you affiliate marketing, you do have to pay though, which is good. These people worked hard and are willing to share their information with you, don't expect it to be free!
