Are You Looking For Quick Cash Or Residual Income?

By Anthony Chambers

As an up and coming affiliate marketer, you should know by now that above everything else, you need specific training on affiliate marketing techniques. Training is important because it will help you to decide on some very important questions. One of the most urgent questions you will have to answer is whether you should concentrate your efforts on making quick cash or you should go for steady, long term, residual income. If you think that quick cash is the way to go in affiliate marketing, think again.

Every good marketer knows that it is easier to contact a customer who has already purchased from you and has an on-going relationship with you, than having to constantly seeking new customers for a yet unproven business opportunity. Convincing strangers to trust you again and again will take its toll on you, and is not the way to build a long-lasting online business.

Affiliate marketing training is also important because you are going to be exposed to some very useful tools that you may not even know exist. Additionally, any good training program will expose you to the other ways you can make money, outside of sinking your cash into a difficult-to-learn pay per click program that will ruin your budget before you can get your bearings.

If you have done anything like this in the past, you will understand why I smirked at a message I got recently from Google, encouraging me to come back and re-activate my AdWords account. I know for certain that a PPC campaign is the easiest way to lose money online, chasing after quick cash which is supposedly hidden behind some fancy website.

I have no hesitation sharing this one fact with you. Most of the money I have made online have not come from PPC campaigns but from other proven affiliate marketing methods designed to create residual income over the long run. Constantly searching for ways to get quick cash on the Internet can be costly and frustrating. Moreover it leads to the kind of mindset which subscribes to making the sale at all cost, no matter the consequences.

Given a choice, I would rather pursue the kind of online marketing strategies which will lead to building a steady, firm foundation, from which to build a sensible business model that will last a life-time. Affiliate marketers that are properly trained know that creating residual income from a one-time effort allows them to gain maximum benefits from doing simple things very well. This allows them to benefit from their customer-centric efforts over and over again. Additionally, it allows them to build a genuine relationship with their customers or referrals that will truly last for a long time.

In the end, any business that allows you to create residual income, will by its very nature, allow you to be more choosy about which kind of business to promote. After all, your customers or referrals will hold you personally responsible for convincing them to make terrible choices if it turns out you misled them. So then the question of whether to pursue quick cash or to build a steady, long term residual-income business answers itself. In order to build a good reputation online and to thrive from it, you really should actively pursue solid business models that include residual income.

I have made the conscious decision to remove myself from several mailing lists because all I ever got from these people were one get-rich-quick scheme after another. I got sick of this kind of behavior very quickly and made the only sensible decision I could, in the circumstances.

To cultivate the correct mindset that will allow you to push on when everything around would seem to point in the opposite direction, you must surround yourself with people who are seeking the same thing you are. This is especially important when you are being trained as an affiliate marketer. These should be people who are willing to share their experiences with you, good and bad.

It makes a world of difference when you can dissect a sales page on a website and recognize the trash behind the alluring words, movies, and pictures, immediately. In the future, this one skill will save you much pain and frustration. So the question remains; "are you looking for a get-rich-quick, quick cash business, or are you looking to build a long term residual income business to last a life-time"?
