Is Affiliate Marketing a Career Option?

Step #1: Keep your day job.
Certainly, there are many people who have found success with affiliate marketing. One name that comes to mind is of a guy named Eban Pagan, who went from working off of his bedroom PC to making $20 million dollars a year or the other success stories about people who are raking in tens of thousands of dollars a week.
But before you get all excited and want to quit your job to pursue affiliate marketing, think before you jump. I guarantee all of these examples had a steady job and chased their affiliate marketing dream on the side.
Step #2: Learn
Make time to study up on your new-found venture. Google the topic and you will be surprised at how many pages chock- full of information about the subject are available. You will also find You Tube useful with lots of educational videos to explore. You need to find a niche.
Lets say you are interested in products specific to men. Good ways to get an idea from a huge company with hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on marketing research are magazines. So go to your local Borders or Barnes and Noble and pick up a few magazines that are targeted to men. Look at the advertisements inside. What are they selling? Write this information down. Then do some scouring on the Internet to blogs and opinion boards and get a feel of what the customers are saying. What do they like? Dislike? Want to see? Want to buy? What's hot at the moment? Take that information and do a keyword search for the most popular keywords available to your niche. A good place for keyword searches is wordtracker.com.
Step #3: Test, Test, Test
After compiling all your studies, tactics, recommendations and material- test to see which niche is right for you. Try different niches, keywords, you need to poke and prod around until you find something that fits you perfectly. And remember, most affiliate marketers have MANY sites, some with hundreds of sites. They pull this off by using landing pages on their sub domains. You can find this information on Google, You Tube or even from your own domain hosting company.
Affiliate marketing can be lucrative. You literally make sales while you sleep from all over the world. You set your own hours, work at your own pace and watch the cash roll in. It's possible, but it takes time. You put in the time, stick with it, use the formula above and you'll be on your way to success in the affiliate marketing industry.
