The Don'ts of Residual Income Affiliate Programs That You Should Avoid

By Fabian Tan

Affiliate marketing can provide you a residual income that can last a lifetime - if you do it right. Unfortunately too many tend to make core mistakes that hinder their income-earning ability.

Here are the DONTs of affiliate programs that you should avoid:

1. Waiting a Lifetime to Put Up Your Site

Enough with the constant tweaking and editing - just make your site presentable and complete and present it to the world. All the tweaking and the upgrades can be done while you continue to build your rank and more web traffic is coming your way.

2. Thinking that Your Site is Complete

It is never complete. You must constantly add new content and update the site. Search engines prefer sites that are updated and ever changing.

3. Affiliated the Wrong Affiliate Program

Find merchants with products that are related or can work with your website's content. For example, no matter how large they are willing to pay, you must not put links selling sex toys when your site is targeted to mothers.

4. No AdSense

A number of affiliates do not use this advertising scheme by Google and I cannot understand why. It's free to join and you can possibly earn money, so, why not?

5. Spreading Yourself Too Thin

Too many website means too many to promote and maintain. Make sure you have enough time to properly set-up, update regularly and market your site.

Avoid these DONTs and you are more likely to succeed as an affiliate marketer. Best of luck and more residual income for you!
