How to Find Affiliate Marketing Scams?
By John Hai
There are many affiliate programs out there that promise you success as an affiliate. Some of them are real some are not. Sometimes it's hard to make out the difference. But how to find affiliate marketing scams? There are some ways to find out, if the sites you visiting are legit or not:
1. How long has the site been active? Did it just pop up out of nowhere or was it created some time ago? When you find a site that was created recently, give it some time and see how it develops. If it's a trusted site it won't just disappear like the scam sites do.
2. How much visitors it gets? There is a site out there named Alexa (just type "Alexa" into Google) that tracks these kinds of things (but only if the site you are examining is in the to 100.000; if it's there, that's already a good sign). You will find a lot of information there.
3. What people are saying about it? Look for the reviews about the site and if they are positive or negative. You should especially search for negative ones to see what they have to say about the site. If there are too many of them, be very cautious.
As an affiliate you have to be careful about hype products and services that promise you everything in a very short time period. This is never a good thing because in many cases they just don't work and promoting them is even worse. You definitely can't trust these sites; they promise you big results in a short time. But let me tell you, there is no way to become successful and rich quickly. Sorry, no magic formula that gives you riches and wealth overnight, unless of course you win the lottery. It will take some time to set up your campaigns, develop you strategies and start making money. You can have small successes on the way, like making a sale or two, but becoming a pro just takes time.
I have joined an affiliate community that does not promise success effortlessly. So why did I do it? Because they promise things that are believable, like giving me the tools and support necessary to develop my skills and helping me to become an affiliate, but the "success part" I have to achieve myself. The main reason why I joined is trust (of course I did some research too). I trusted them and was not disappointed. So, what I am trying to say here is: if you find a site, do some background research on it and if you don't find something negative, it is most likely trustworthy.
